Our story

Granite Criminal Defense, PLLC was founded on a simple belief: people accused of crimes deserve a defense as prepared and determined as the case against them. We are dedicated exclusively to criminal defense, and we bring more than 35 years of combined courtroom experience to every matter we take on.

That experience spans both sides of the aisle. Our attorneys have served as prosecutors, including with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the County Attorney’s Office. Having built and argued cases for the State, we know exactly how the prosecution prepares, what it relies on, and where its cases can be challenged. That perspective is one of the most valuable things a defendant can have in their corner.

Every case begins with a critical examination of the State’s evidence. Where the facts call for it, we conduct our own investigation to fill the gaps the State has missed or chosen to ignore. We build a theory of the case — not a generic defense, but one grounded in the specific charge, the specific facts, and the specific client. We then work that theory through every stage of the proceeding.
Most cases do not go to trial. But the cases that produce the best outcomes — dismissals, reductions, favorable pleas — are the ones the State knows it would have to fight to win. We give the State that fight, on paper and in court, until we reach the right resolution for our client.
