With over 30 years of criminal law experience, Attorney Joachim Barth brings a comprehensive perspective to defending his clients, derived from both prosecuting and defending thousands of cases in courtrooms across the State.  After clerking in the State Supreme Court, he started his litigation career at the New Hampshire Public Defender program as a trial lawyer, appellate attorney, and a litigation and training Director.  There, he defended charges from violations and misdemeanors to serious felonies, including allegations of sexual assault and homicides.   Then, he worked as an Assistant County Attorney, an Assistant United States Attorney for the United States Department of Justice, and finally served as the Deputy County Attorney in Strafford County.   Attorney Barth has been recognized for professional excellence by his peers on both sides of the courtroom.  For instance, in 2022, as a federal prosecutor, he was honored with the Special Recognition Award by the New England Narcotic Enforcement Officers’ Association; and for his commitment as a defense attorney, he received the Champion of Justice Award from the New Hampshire Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys in 2014.

Today, at Granite Criminal Defense, PLLC, Attorney Barth draws from the decades of litigation experience and institutional knowledge to provide strategic, impactful, client-focused representation.  He believes in evaluating each case to create options, mitigate risk, and achieve success according to the client’s goals and sensibilities.   Understanding that extensive preparation, meticulous case analysis, and skilled execution deliver results, Attorney Barth is committed to putting in the work for every client.
